Candidates Involvement with EATAW I am a founding member of EATAW which was founded during a writing conference at the Ruhr-Universität of Bochum in 1999 (http://www.ruhr-uni-bochum.de/pressemitteilungen-2000/msg00245.html). From 1999 to 2001 I was a EATAW board member. In 2007 my team and I are organizing the 4th EATAW conference in Bochum. Reasons for Standing/Vision for EATAW as an Organization I support the aims of EATAW, especially in developing and improving the quality of the teaching of academic writing in Europe. Especially, I am interested in teaching and implementing academic writing programmes at European universities which, compared to Fachhochschulen, Colleges etc., show themselves quite resistant to the idea. I would very much like EATAW to benefit from my deep experiences in implementing a university writing centre and programme. I would like EATAW to be more involved in the policy of education and quality management of teaching academic writing. Teaching Experience From 1993 to 1997 I built up the first German writing lab at the University of Bielefeld together with Dr. Andrea Frank and colleagues. Since 2000 I have been the head of the writing centre at the Ruhr-Universität Bochum, which I have built up since 1997. In the field of academic writing I am working as an adviser and trainer for students, for graduates and researchers and for university teachers. Since 1997 I have instructed and supervised advisers and trainers for academic writing. I have wide experience in training university teachers at other German and Swiss universities (e.g. Bremen, Dresden, Düsseldorf, Erfurt, Frankfurt, Freiburg, Hamburg, Heidelberg, München, Karlsruhe, Kassel, Köln, Konstanz, Siegen, Zürich).
